ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

It has always been the policy of County Shopfitting Services Ltd to source its raw materials most carefully.

It is sad but true that much of the blame for the destruction of tropical rainforests has been erroneously laid at the Timber Industries door. The truth is that the vast majority of timber taken from tropical forests world wide is used or burnt in the country of origin due to pressures of increased need for agricultural land, building materials and fuel.

Timbers and veneers utilised by County Shopfitting in the manufacture of its specialist joinery products are sourced from managed forest areas. Good forest management includes practices such as selective felling, where only trees over a certain size are cut, leaving the remainder to rapidly fill the gap opened in the forest canopy. Other techniques include enrichment planting, where additional seedlings of the more desirable species are introduced and clear felling where selected areas are cut and replanted with commercial species.

Successfully managed forests help to counter the greenhouse effect, since rapidly growing young saplings absorb carbon dioxide and emit oxygen at a far greater rate than mature trees.

Environmentally Active in Waste Disposal
At County Shopfitting we do not only think about our source of raw materials, disposal of waste is also handled with care and consideration.

80% of waste created is processed through our own on site system, a large proportion of which is recycled to other industries for further use.

Our machinery reduces selected waste to 15mm particles for this purpose.

Cardboard, plastics, sheet materials and contaminated waste is processed in a similar manner and stored on site for removal by contractors and other end users. The manufacturing process at County Shopfitting therefore, is not merely a commercial undertaking, production combines the latest technological advances with traditional craft skills, not forgetting the responsibilities of Industry towards its environment.

Resource Conservation
The use of unnecessary energy wastes both money and has a severe impact on the environment through waste of resources and pollutants produced in generation of power.
  • Report any defects in plant and equipment at once.
  • Do not block heaters or ventilators.
  • Turn off or turn down heating to regulate temperatures. Do not use doors and windows as this wastes valuable energy.
  • If heating is used during cold spells, make sure doors and windows are kept shut.
  • Do not allow taps to run, wasting water, report any leaking pipes/taps so that they may be entered into a defects log and addressed ASAP.
  • Ensure at the end of a shift that all electrical equipment is switched off or if set on timers that they are set correctly
